Click Here to see who the lucky jackpot winners were from the Stop Gambling With Your Commute promotion.
Nearly 1,400 Irvine Spectrum commuters took part in the promotion by pledging to rideshare at least once during April and May. Some of these commuters were already regular ridesharers and some were trying it for the first time. All their names were put into the jackpot drawings for a chance to win a $2,500 travel package or three $1,250 travel packages. Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who participated.
Spectrumotion would also like to thank our promotion partners for their generous contributions: Metrolink, VPSI, OCTA, Southwest Airlines and ZevNet.

Irvine Station Update
|
|
The City of Irvine has made improving the Irvine Station (formerly the Irvine Transportation Center) a top priority. As the busiest train station in Orange County, the Irvine Station serves more than 1.2 million Amtrak, Metrolink, and OCTA riders annually. However, the demand for the Station's services has overwhelmed the 547 parking spaces currently available.
To meet commuters' needs, a four-level, 1,500 space parking structure will break ground in early July 2007, and is anticipated to be completed by mid-2008. During construction a temporary lot with 488 spaces will be located adjacent to the Irvine Station. In addition, 100 parking spaces in the original lot will remain open.
During construction, the area in front of Irvine Station will be used for construction staging. As a result, the bicycle lockers located in front of the Station will be relocated starting July 7th. In order to facilitate the relocation, the City of Irvine is requesting that all items be removed from the lockers prior to July 6, 2007. The lockers will be made available to users following relocation, which is anticipated to be completed on July 16, 2007.
The new parking structure will also include enhanced pedestrian walkways, improved landscaping, and new transit-related retail space on the ground floor of the structure.
The $22.8 million parking structure expansion is being funded through federal and state grant programs administrated by the Orange County Transportation Authority and the State of California.

Metrolink Fare Increase
|
|
On Friday, May 11, 2007, the Metrolink Board of Directors approved an average annual fare increase of 3.5 percent to offset anticipated increases in costs to operate commuter train service. The new fares will go into effect on July 1, 2007. This was part of an overall 10 year plan for fare increases and restructuring initially passed in 2004.
